Evidence

In a Health Hazard Evaluation, NIOSH reported airborne carbon particles and stainless-steel fibers in electrostatic-brush production, with eye, skin, and throat irritation and skin rash among the most frequently reported symptoms. The authors concluded that inhaling the carbon or stainless-steel fibers probably did not pose a health risk in that evaluation and recommended PPE and properly maintained ventilation to reduce irritation.
