The NIOSH Pocket Guide describes lindane as a white-to-yellow crystalline pesticide powder and identifies inhalation, skin absorption, ingestion, skin, and eye contact routes; reported effects include irritation, headache, nausea, convulsions, breathing difficulty, cyanosis, aplastic anemia, muscle spasm, and liver and kidney damage in animals.
