Dust entry

Tellurium compound dust

Airborne particulate from tellurium metal and tellurium compounds, excluding the separately listed tellurium hexafluoride and bismuth telluride categories.

Airborne form

dust

The form describes what is suspended in air at the point of exposure. A material can produce more than one form, such as dust during handling and fume during heating.

Health effects

Evidence

NIOSH lists a 0.1 mg/m³ TWA REL for tellurium and states that it applies to other tellurium compounds except tellurium hexafluoride and bismuth telluride.

NIOSH REL TWA 0.1 mg/m³. The REL also applies to other tellurium compounds (as Te) except Tellurium hexafluoride and Bismuth telluride.

NIOSH gives a revised IDLH of 25 mg Te/m³ and notes that no inhalation toxicity data were available on which to base an IDLH for tellurium compounds.
