Vanadium pentoxide dust and fume

Airborne vanadium pentoxide dust or fume generated during vanadium-compound handling and high-temperature processes.

Airborne form

dust

The form describes what is suspended in air at the point of exposure. A material can produce more than one form, such as dust during handling and fume during heating.

Evidence

The current NIOSH Pocket Guide describes vanadium dust as yellow-orange powder or dark-gray flakes dispersed in air, sets a 0.05 mg V/m³ 15-minute ceiling REL, and reports eye, skin, throat, and respiratory effects including bronchitis and breathing difficulty.
